A series of black and white photos showing the diversity in reference to Birmingham's architecture. Birmingham has always been an amazing place for me in terms of diversity, one day I decided to take street pictures, but what interested me was what I saw when looking up. By excluding the sky, we see a collage that shows a mixture of old buildings intertwined with modern buildings, showing how the city is developing and combines different styles and eras. It is a city from a different perspective presented in a world without colours, but thanks to this manipulation we can fully focus on details.
It is part of the "Moved" exhibition (21October 2022, The Engine Room, Birmingham) which showcases the work of artists from all over the world who have chosen Birmingham as their home. I visited Birmingham for the first time as a child in 2008 and already knew that I wanted to live here. I was charmed by the diversity of people, architecture, and lifestyle. I felt that it was a city in which I could develop as an artist.
